Maningi Warriors FC - Maningi

Maningi Warriors Football Club was
founded and affiliated to Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA)
by Gladman Dimbiri in 2007.
The club is headquartered at the remote village (Bvukururu) of
Zaka East, Masvingo Province in Zimbabwe.
Maningi Warriors FC represents true Zimbabwean grassroots
football and the people of Zaka, and therefore it understands
the importance of being part of Zaka People.
Maningi Warriors FC believes that for them to be successful they
need to have culture, tradition and football development at
heart.
What
does Maningi mean? A million dollar question!
Mr Dimbiri
reveals, perhaps for the first time, that “Had it not been the
thoughts and memories of my late grandfather, Mr Wadson Dimbiri
(known in the community as Maningi) maybe Maningi FC would not
have been formed. Mr Maningi as he was well known was a man of
character, who went a long way to help the community soccer
projects in Zaka. He used to support and love the sport. May his
soul rest in peace.
It is also
important to note that several people played key roles in the
formation of Maningi Warriors FC. This includes encouragement of
people like K Tavengerwei, L Malianga, L Chiwawa (late), M
Maketo and Z Chiyangwa. While others were well known, there are
those who toiled tirelessly but remained in the background, yet
their contributions were extremely significant. It is a fact
that I am talking about the Director's wife Sibusisiwe Dimbiri
(nee Malianga) as she played huge roles in terms of the
formation and growth of the team.
